Armoured Fiber Optic Cables
These extremely rugged and robust cables are designed specifically for harsh environment end uses and are especially suitable where protection from rodent attack, physical attack or adverse weather conditions is required.
Although constructions vary the idea is simple: in a small OD cable logitudinal stainless steel components are embedded in the construction to guarantee maximum tensile strength and resistance to stress whilst reducing damage from torsional stress during installation. Because the constructions are so hardwearing and OD so relatively small armored cables and their assemblies can be laid without the need for a protection tube which saves space and also easies maintenance access whilst providing an enhanced level of physical security for the whole system. With their steel-reinforced construction KeyFibre’s range armored cable solutions offer exceptionally high cable strength and crush resistance.
These cables, including standard Sx, will withstand up to 5000N short-term crush and 400N pull making them the ideal solution to harsh environment or installation requirements. Standard constructions available for pre-terminated patch / multicores in 2 – 48 fibre. All fibre types are

Bulk cable is available from Sx and Dx to 48FO as well as more specialist solutions such as teflon coated fibre and jacket and cable for pipeline.

Cable assemblies are also avaiable and come in 2 basic unique types of cable. First, a flexible stainless steel hose is embedded in the construction to guarantee maximum tensile strength and resistannce to stress. Second, a braided metallic mesh is placed underneath the outer jacket to remove torsional stress during installation.

For very demanding environments KeyFIbre offers other solution such as our oil field armored sensor cable which can withstand over 1900N tensile pull.

Keyfibre supplies pre-terminated cable reels for situations where a rapidly deployable temporary solution is needed. The reels have a twofold braking system to avoid damage during deployment and retrieval, lengths are from 60 to 1000m , all major fibre types are available and cable can be terminated to your requirement.
